"Rwanda - a great destination"

Prior to our Rwanda trip we considered various options before we confirmed any arrangements. Danny from Bizidanny tours & safaris was a huge source of information and very reliable. We sent various emails over a period of months and every single time we received a prompt response usually within minutes. In order to get our money’s worth we prefer very full schedules. We planned for much more than we would have been able to manage, but Danny rearranged our activities and stretched our itinerary to the maximum. If it was not for Danny’s input our trip would have been a disaster with plenty disappointments.

Driving in Rwanda is in general very time consuming and tiring but the whole time we were well looked after with our safety and comfort having the highest priority. Our Bizidanny driver, Jean-Louis was always on time and went out of his way to satisfy our needs. Rwanda is a wonderful country and exceeded all our expectations. People in general are helpful and friendly and probably one of the safest countries we have travelled to.

The chimp tracking was a bit disappointing since they seem fairly nervous, always on the run, in the tree tops and in difficult terrain. Never the less we managed to see them. On the same day we also did the canopy walk which was a great experience (even for me being afraid of heights). Walking in the rainforest is magnificent but to see the tree tops from above on the canopy walk was magical. Tracking the colobus monkeys the next day was much easier since they were on the edge of the forest. Their curious nature made it easy to see them from a very short distance. At first they were a bit shy but came closer after a while. The canopy walk and colobus monkey tracking made Nyungwe a worthy destination. View Top hotel is set in a beautiful spot and although service is not the quickest, the hotel is highly recommended.

Travelling next to Lake Kivu to Musanze was a very tiring trip due to the poor condition of the road. Having said that it is still beautiful scenery and we will do it again. We overnight at Moriah Hill Hotel with beautiful views over the lake.

In Musanze we did the Diane Fossey hike on which we briefly saw two different gorilla families. The hike itself had a fast pace and is fairly difficult, but the scenery made up for that. The next day we tracked the Amahoro family which was easy compared to the Chimps and Diane Fossey. This was obviously the highlight of our trip and we would recommend gorilla tracking to anybody. The last day we tracked the golden monkeys which was overshadowed by our previous day. We were fairly close to them, but they are fast moving and very active. We stayed at Mountain View Gorilla hotel which is also a great location.

A lot can be said on the shortcomings of the hotels we stayed at and on how they can improve their service. However we have experienced worse service in many other countries in hotels with higher ratings in other parts of the world. This is part of the experience and taking the beautiful scenery and friendly staff into account I will go back to each and everyone.

Expensive roaming and limited wi-fi may be a concern, but forced us to leave the cell phones off just to enjoy Rwanda. It may also be worth mentioning the weather in the rainforests is nothing like Kigali and warm clothes is essential. Protective clothing for the hikes (long pants and long sleeve shirts with garden gloves) was a very handy tip we received prior to our trip.

We can also highly recommend RwandAir.

Bizidanny Tours organised a wonderful holiday for us, and our guide Jeremiah was great. We had a fantastic time in Rwanda; it's a beautiful country and we have recommended both Rwanda and Bizidanny Tours to everyone we've spoken to since we arrived home.

We both feel that we have learnt so much about Rwanda and its people and culture, which wouldn't have happened had we taken ourselves around. Of course, seeing the gorillas was an amazing experience, but the rest of our trip was equally as interesting and enjoyable.
