While the trip I'm now providing a review for was not my first Uganda trip (actually it was the 5th), it was the longest so far. I had met Henry during trip #4 when he was running a start-up tour company that has now evolved to become the bigger operation he's listing here. So it should be understood that I'm basically reviewing Henry as a guide and travel arranger even though the particular trip booking wasn't made through this website (to which he pointed me) or for his new company. But very obviously it will allow future clients to get some idea about Henry's bigger tour company which, as I understand, now has an all-of-Uganda focus instead of an Eastern Region focus.
During that #5 trip I was the only Western tourist in the small group for which we used a private hire 4wd (with driver). We started in Entebbe and visited Bugala Island, Masaka, Lake Mburo NP, Mgahinga Gorilla NP, Lake Mutanda, Bwindi Impenetrable NP (transit), Kilembe, Fort Portal area, Semuliki NP, Semuliki WR, Kibale NP, Kampala, Jinja area, Sangalo Sands Beach area (Lake Victoria), Tororo, Mbale, Wanale Cliffs, Pian Upe GR, Nyero Rock Paintings, and the Mt Elgon area with Sipi Falls and Sisiyi Falls.
Henry proved to be a nice and welcoming guy with good knowledge of his country, not limited to wildlife. He helped with a multitude of things, even those that arose locally and weren't foreseen before the trip. For example, when I had caught a cold and wasn't fit enough to reach the summit during a mountain hike, he helped with ad-hoc arrangements with a local family along the track to host me while the other members of the group continued the ascent. That's something I much appreciated, and just one example showing that he's a guy not arguing with contractual agreements when it comes to resolving unforeseen issues. He also arranged a visit to his native village (and actually his family) along the way back to Kampala from Fort Portal -- a very good insight into ordinary people's way of life. Good job!
Speaking excellent English apart from Luganda (Ugandan language), he was also a good interface to local people at the places that we visited.
For my #6 trip to Uganda half a year later in October/November 2021, again an excellent experience with Henry, I should provide a separate review.
