Great Lakes Safaris Limited (also referred to as GLS) was founded in 2001 by a young professional entrepreneur, Mr Amos Wekesa, with the intention of improving the quality of tour operations in Uganda and the Great Lakes region of East Africa. The company began with meagre resources, but has grown in leaps and bounds to see the company join the ranks of East Africa’s leading tour companies and become one of the leading tour companies in Uganda. The mission of Great Lakes Safaris is to provide first-class holidays, Safaris, tours and guiding services, which promote Uganda as a leading tourism destination. Great Lakes Safaris designs flexible packages to suit the client’s needs and budget. Our most popular ready-made Safari tours can be seen on this web site. Alternatively, customers are welcome to design their own gorilla Safaris, cultural Safaris or East African tours with the personal assistance of the GLS team.

About our safari vehicles

The company owns seven Toyota Land Cruisers and three Minibuses. All vehicles are 4WD, are well maintained and provide a pop up roof for game viewing. For clients’ convenience, we try to limit the number of people in one vehicle to 5-6 persons. This means everybody can enjoy having a window seat and luggage can be stored comfortably. The challenging condition of the roads means that safari vehicles are serviced by GLS company mechanics after every trip.
