This 6 days Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu route also known as Coca cola route is the oldest and most established hiking route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that has hut accommodation for climbers and uses the same path going up and coming back down. The drive from Moshi to Kilimanjaro National Park Marangu gate takes about 50 minutes and journey passes through the village of Marangu which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain.
Marangu route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from south-east side at an altitude of 1,879 meters towards the summit Uhuru Peak 5,895m with success rate of 70%.

Moshi-Marangu gate-Mandara hut

On Day 1 of your Kilimanjaro trek you hike though dense rainforest, though at points there are openings in the vegetation that offer views of the farmlands which cover the base of the mountain outside of the Kilimanjaro National Park. The day's trail ends at Mandara Hut, where you overnight. Elevation: 1200 m to 1,750m to 2,750m Distance: 9km Trekking Time: 3 hours Habitat: Montane Forest

Mandara hut-Horombo hut

On Day 2 you trek through more beautiful rainforest, but soon the forest gives way to moorland. The snowcapped peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi can be seen. After trekking for six to eight hours you reach Horombo Hut, where you stay for the night. Elevation:2750m to 3,807m Distance:13km. Trekking time: 5-6 hours Habitat: Moorlands

Horombo hut-Mawenzi-Horombo hut

Your third day on the mountain can be split into two parts: a climb to Mawenzi Ridge, followed by a return to Horombo Hut. The reason for this is to helps your body to acclimatize properly to the increased elevation. When you reach Mawenzi ridge you spend some time there taking in the breathtaking views before heading back down to Horombo Hut for another night. As already mentioned, climbing high and then sleeping low is an important acclimatization strategy.

After a good night rest and breakfast you will trek past the last water point to reach saddle area, a great desert between the two peaks Mawenzi and Kibo. An early dinner and overnight at Kibo hut. Elevation(m):3807m to 4725m Distance: 13 km Trekking time: 5-6 hours Habitat: Desert

Kibo hut-Uhuru peak-Horombo hut

Today's trek consists of two parts. First part, you strike out for the summit! and Your guide wakes you up around midnight to get ready for the ascent. Within about six hours you reach Stella Point and enjoy the sunrise. After that, you trek for about another hour on a snow-covered trail to reach Uhuru Peak. After reaching the summit, you descend to Horombo Hut for the night.

After a long sleep you will be awaked for breakfast and pack, continue your descent through the moorland to Mandara Huts. Here you will have lunch then proceed your triumphant recessional down through lush forest to Marangu park gate. After the gate sign out, a vehicle will take you to back to the hotel where it is definitely time for your certificate presentation and celebration!
