Fourth day : Shira Camp 1 to Moir Camp
Today's trek with Kizza Adventures takes you across the Shira Plateau, moving from Shira Camp 1 to Moir Camp at 4,200 meters. This is a longer day, covering approximately 14 km (8 miles) in 6-8 hours. After lunch at Shira Camp 2, you'll pass through the stunning 'Garden of the Senecios' and enter the high alpine desert before reaching Moir Camp.

You'll start day five by climbing out of Moir Valley, with an option to summit Little Lent Hill at 4,375 meters for extra acclimatization. The route then continues around the northern slopes of Kibo, offering stunning views of the plains that stretch to the Kenyan border. After trekking around 12 km (7 miles) for 5-7 hours, you’ll arrive at Buffalo Camp at 4,020 meters for lunch and rest.
Day six : Buffalo Camp to Rongai Third Cave
On this day, you'll climb up Buffalo Ridge and then descend to Porfu Camp for lunch. The trek continues to the Rongai Third Cave at 3,800 meters, covering about 8 km (5 miles) in 5-7 hours. By now, you should be well acclimatized to the altitude. The route skirts the northern slopes of Kibo, providing beautiful scenery along the way.
Day seven : Third Cave to School Hut
The trek on day seven involves climbing steadily from the Third Cave up to School Hut at 4,800 meters, covering around 15 km (8 miles) in 4-5 hours. You'll cross the Saddle, a high-altitude desert area located between Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. After reaching the summit and enjoying the breathtaking sunrise, you'll descend to Millennium Camp at 3,950 meters. The descent is around 10.5 km (6 miles), taking 4-6 hours. This day will be long, totaling 14-16 hours of trekking, so it’s important to pace yourself.
Day nine : Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
The final day of the trek with Kizza Adventures takes you from Millennium Camp down to Mweka Gate, located at 1,640 meters.
