Safari summary
Masai Mara was named for the Masai people who inhabit the area, and for the Mara River, which flows through this great reserve. It shares a border with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and is essentially a continuation of this park, forming the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. It is home to an excellent year-round concentration of game and is renowned for its annual visit by the two million animals between July and October that make up the Great Migration. Covering an impressive 1 115 km² (430 square miles), the Masai Mara is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains. This wildlife haven is host to great variety of animals like Elephant, Hippo, Buffalo, Gazelle, Topi, Giraffe, Lion , Cheetah and Leopard which will present endless photo opportunities. The Mara River itself is also famed for its enormous crocodiles. We will be located in the Mara North Conservancy which is a Masai community project run by Masai families owning the land. The community members have come together and formed this private Conservancy in order to protect the wilderness area instead of using the land for agricultural use as per their title deeds. Elephant Pepper Camp is tone of the few camps located on the Conservancy and as such offers a vast area of tranquility and preserved nature as well as exclusive game drives and walking safari opportunities – all of this in almost total privacy away from the busy crowds.
Professional wildlife and tourism management ensures guests of a truly exclusive and private safari experience with a very low vehicle density.
Elephant Pepper Camp is unfenced and our guests enjoy a real immersion in Nature with animals walking around freely in front of the tents. All the tents are set among trees overlooking the endless plains of the conservancy which are the stage for one of the most spectacular wildlife shows on earth; the great annual migration of over a two million wildebeests and zebras.
During this Photographic Safari we will be in a private concession which means NO gate times to adhere to and the possibility of going Off-Road if the photo opportunity requires it. This is something that cannot be done in the public areas of Masai Mara and has to be considered as a definite plus of this safari.
