Itinerary

Arrive in Kigali

On arrival at the Kigali International Airport you will be met and transferred to your accommodation in the heart of Kigali city. Overnight at the hotel on bed and breakfast basis.

Nyungwe

Nyungwe Forest

Depart on a scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park via Butare, the second largest city of Rwanda and regarded as the intellectual city of Rwanda. Butare hosts the National Museum, several Universities and research institutions. Visit Nyanza the former Mwami's Palace and the seat of the feudal monarchy. The palace has been reconstructed to its 19th century state You will also visit the Butare National Museum in Huye which is one of the finest ethnographic museum of East Africa.

Nyungwe

Nyungwe Forest

Early breakfast at your lodge, and transfer to the trail head. Then embark on a thrilling hike in search of chimpanzee communities. The Rwandan chimpanzee population is thought to consist of approx. 400-500 individuals, confined to the Nyungwe National Park. Prepare to hear these excitable primates before you see them, as their pant-hoots travel through the deep forest. During your hike you may also spot migratory birdlife. After lunch, depart for Canopy walk.

Drive to Ruhengeri / Volcanoes NP

Volcanoes

Enjoy the scenic drive to Lake Kivu. After lunch you will drive on scenic drive North West wards through the beautiful terraced hillsides that display Rwanda’s landscape. Arrive at Ruhengeri, the base for Gorilla trekking at the Parc National des Volcanos. The town itself, located only 25km from Uganda boarder, is relatively a small city of about 70,000 people. The constant flow of humanity is quite remarkable. The Town has great views of the surrounding volcanoes.

Early breakfast at your lodge, then transfer to the Volcanoes National Park HQs. Here you will register and then the park staff determine which group of gorillas you will visit. The park staff advise you of the trekking times and conditions to the various groups based upon their location in the park the previous evening. There are a total of 96 gorilla permits available each day with a maximum of eight trekkers visiting any one group. The walk to the gorillas can be anything up to 3-4 hours.

Ruhengeri

Volcanoes

Today you may choose to go for a second trek, if you have purchased permits or trek to see the Endangered Golden Monkeys. After the trek, rejoin your driver Guide for a transfer to your Lodge for lunch and spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure.

Kigali

Depart on a scenic drive back to Kigali from foothills of the Virunga volcanoes and drive south past coffee, tea and banana plantations. Everything and everywhere, sheer green and hanging on the hills; Rwanda truly - land of a thousand fertile green hills. Spend the afternoon on a city tour, including a visit to the Genocide Museum.

Akagera

Akagera

On this day you will drive to the Akagera National Park. The Park is set at a relatively low altitude on the border with Tanzania and scenically dominated by a labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River. Enjoy afternoon game drive as you head to the Lodge for check in.

Today you will spend your day exploring Akagera National park with Morning and Afternoon game drives. In the afternoon you will enjoy sunset boat ride.

Last Day

On this day you will return to Kigali, you will be able to visit the Nyamirambo Women Center to experience cooking class “Lunch inclusive”, you will also learn the cultural and tradition diversity. Visit local market and shops (at extra cost). Then transfer to the airport for your departure
