Safari summary
The Language of Waves: “Rest, relax and reflect”, “You need to lose yourself and disappear in the depths of the repetitions", "Find a coast and watch the repetitive waves, soon your mind vanishes and when your mind disappears you disappear”, (Mehmet Murat Ildan). This tour focuses on the Namibian southern Skeleton Coast and a range of activities to fully experience the adventure. Activities range from easy to adrenaline rushed. The Living Desert Tour will allow us to explore the incredible Namib Desert landscape and its sneaky creatures that have adapted to living in a harsh environment. During the Welwitschia Drive, we will look at one of the oldest plants in the desert, Welwitschia mirabilis (Near Endemic to Namibia). The Moon Landscape is a rolling, barren area of rocky desert formed by valleys around the course of the river, giving it a great aesthetic value. We embark on a boat cruise, giving us chances of seeing different species of whales and dolphins, and more waterbirds including hundreds of flamingoes. During the Sandwich Harbour tour, we will experience 4 x 4 sand dune driving and see where the dunes meet the seas. We will visit a shipwreck, which is one of the common sightings along the Namibian Skeleton Coast. Before driving inland, we will visit the largest seal colony in the world at Cape Cross Seal Reserve. Although it is not along the coast, an additional visit to the Spitzkoppe Mountains is worthwhile, which will include hiking the Groot Spitzkoppe on a guided tour. There are some Bushman paintings in this area which we will explore using local guides to interpretation. The sky is amazing at night around the Spitzkoppe.

Itinerary
Swakopmund
Your guide will pick you up either from the airport or accommodation in Windhoek and drive to the Coast. We will embark on a city tour that enlightens you on the early days in the Namibian Coast dating back to the late 1800s, with plenty of anecdotes. Township tours are optional but highly recommended as one visits the formal and informal settlements. You get to visit the market, traditional elders and kindergarten. Meet friendly local people, have tea and traditional food in a private home.

Living Desert Tour & Welwitschia
After breakfast, during the Living Desert Tour, we will look for little creatures who either camouflage, use their agility, or fake deaths, they help serve food on the table or somehow avoid being someone’s meal in the Namib Desert. In the afternoon, we will embark on the Welwitschia Drive Tour. This drive takes you through several beacons at points of interest, culminating at one of Namibia’s oldest plants, Welwitschia mirabilis (over 2,000 years old). We will see the Moon Landscape as well.

Catamaran and Sandwich Harbour Tour
After breakfast, you will embark on a boat cruise with possible sightings of humpback whales, Southern right whales, minke and even killer whales. Bottlenose and the endemic Benguela (Heavyside) dolphins are present all year round, with Cape fur seals and pelicans jumping on the boat for a free ride and food. In the afternoon, you will go for heavy 4x4 sand dune driving at Sandwich Harbour, where the dunes meet the sea where you get to see the breathtaking scenery, including pink lakes.

Cape Cross Fur Seals & Spitzkoppe
After breakfast, we will head northwards past a shipwreck to the largest seal colony in the world, the Cape Cross Seal Reserve along the Skeleton Coast. There can be up to 200,000 seals at a given time. We will leave the coastal environment and make our way to the Spitzkoppe Mountains. These mountains resemble the famous Swiss mountain, hence named the "Matterhorn of Africa". We will visit some San (Bushman) rock paintings in the afternoon during a guided afternoon nature drive.
Spitzkoppen Lodge, Spitzkoppe Cabin Camp
Mountain Hiking & Windhoek
We embark on a guided hike up the Groot Spitzkoppe very early in the morning. The highest point is 1,728m and towers 600m above the surrounding plains. It demands a technical climb, so an experienced local guide will accompany us. After breakfast, we will make our way to Windhoek, marking the end of our coastal experience. This marks the end of your Namibian Coastal Adventure.
Accommodation of your choice at own cost.
