ppSafari summary
This is a combination of culture and wildlife tour. The main goal will be to visit the San People (Bushmen) in their natural area. The San population has been living in the vast Kalahari Desert region for over 20,000 years. Besides visiting them on a cultural tour, on our way there you will meet them going about their daily chores and one can interact with them in lodges where they are working. We will explore the Waterberg and part of Etosha as an icing on the cake before returning to Windhoek. Upon arrival, a city tour in Windhoek gives a detailed insight into the history from the German colonial times that influenced history and culture of the Namibian capital. This includes a visit to the Reiterdenkmal (horse rider monument), the Alte Feste (Old Fort), the Christuskirche (church) and the oldest building of Windhoek, the old ammunition building, as well as Windhoek’s three castles. After this orientation will visit the Waterberg Plateau area. There are several walking trails with information on the history to a site of the Battle of Waterberg (1904) and to a camp for Herero refugees (1906) – events that influence Namibian German relations till today. Enroute to Bushmanland, we will visit the world heaviest metallic meteorite. We will then spend 2 days with the San (Bushman) people to experience their way of life, past and present. We will then wind up our Bushmanland Tour by visiting the eastern part of the Etosha National Park.

Waterberg Wilderness, Valley and Plateau Lodges
Bushmanland- Kalahari Desert
After breakfast, we will drive to Bushmanland, past the Hoba Meteorite. It weighs about 60 tonnes, and analysis suggests it is mostly iron (80%) and nickel with traces of cobalt, making it the largest single piece of meteorite in the world. After this long day of driving, we will have time to relax and feel the tranquility of the lodge area before dinner.
Tsumkwe Country Lodge
Bushman (San) People of Kalahari
We have a full day excursion accompanied by local San hunter and gatherers, to show us how they used to live traditionally and adjust to the Kalahari Desert without much surface water. It is not guaranteed that you will have success hunt but, the thrill of tracking and stalking potential prey is exhilarating. After dinner, we will experience traditional singing around the campfire, San woman playout their ritual games and the men mimicking antelope and giraffe movements.

Etosha
After breakfast, we will drive to the eastern part of Etosha National Park. We will have time for an afternoon game drive. Traditionally, they roamed the area now known as the districts of Tsumeb, Otavi, Outjo and Etosha National Park, including southern and western parts of Owamboland. Most of them work and live around the Etosha.
