This is a prefatory tour that allows one to experience facets of the Namib Desert, the coast and wildlife in Namibia. “Rest, Relax and Reflect”! Soon your mind vanishes away and when your mind disappears you disappear!” After being in the desert, wildlife in the Etosha National Park will be great. Solitaire is an iconic Namibian desert settlement. In 1948 Willem Christoffel van Coller bought 33,000 hectares of land from the Southwest Administration (the government of Namibia at the time) for the purpose of farming Karakul sheep. It is in the middle of nowhere and until today you may get some good apple pie. We will get to visit Sossusvlei, the Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon. At the Namibian Atlantic Coast, we will stay in the harbour town, Walvis Bay. Attractions here include the lagoon with its prolific bird life and variety of recreational possibilities. The town has a well-developed and efficient port, while its fishing harbour is the hub of Namibia's lucrative fishing industry. We will then end our adventure by spending 3 nights in the southern part of Etosha National Park before going back to Windhoek.

Namib-Naukluft

Your guide will pick you up either from the airport or accommodation in Windhoek. We will drive down to the south of the country and reside at Solitaire. Let us embark on a sundowner drive in a private nature reserve as an introduction to the Namib Desert. Watch the sunset and enjoy a sundowner of a few drinks with us in Solitaire. It's a magical time of the day.

An early morning start will see us embarking on a guided game drive to Sossusvlei. We will visit the main attractions including Dune 45, the Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon. The Namib desert has been arid for about 80 million years, with true desert conditions predominating the last 15 to 20 million years. The main attraction is the breathtaking red sand dunes, which are among some of the highest and oldest in the world. We will then take a scenic drive past Gaub and Kuiseb passes to Walvis Bay.

After breakfast, we will embark on a Catamaran tour and Sandwich Harbour Tour in the afternoon. Depending on the time of the year and luck one might encounter Whales, Dolphins, Leatherback turtle and Seals on the Catamaran Tour. The Sandwich Harbour Tour takes you to one of the 5 Ramsar sites (Wetlands of International Importance) where the dunes meet the sea.

After breakfast, we will leave the coastal area and drive inland to Etosha National Park. We will embark on an afternoon guided game drive.
