Safari summary
The Fisheagle Safari starts from Kariba, 8 km down stream from the Kariba Dam Wall and ends in Mana Pools National Park. The Safari travels 18 km through the Kariba Gorge after which the river opens up into the flood plains which are prolific in wildlife. Mana Pools National Park is a protected World Heritage Site. The Safari as a whole covers approximately 130 km from start to finish. Each day an average of 21.5 km will be paddled, however don’t let this daunt you, the current of the river will do most of the work for you so relax and take in the magnificent surroundings.

Itinerary
Day One
Your safari begins at 7:30am with check-in at Natureways, a short briefing, and a visit to the shops for extra drinks. Valuables and passports should be left behind. After a 1.5km descent into the gorge, guests launch onto the river following a safety talk and paddling demo. A picnic lunch and siesta break the day’s heat. By 5pm, arrive at Crocodile Rocks to set up camp, enjoy a bucket bath, dinner, and a camping safety briefing.

Day Two
Wake at sunrise for tea, coffee, and biscuits before canoeing a few hours to a relaxed breakfast stop. Continue paddling through the stunning Zambezi Valley scenery. Pause for lunch at a suitable spot with time for a siesta. In the early evening, arrive at the second campsite—Twin Logs Island—ready to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Day Three
Again, up at sunrise for tea, coffee, biscuits, and breakfast, before canoeing. A packed lunch is taken on the river. At approximately 5pm camp is set up on an island named Kakomarara.

Day Four
Up at sunrise for tea, coffee, and biscuits before paddling for a couple of hours, then stopping for a relaxed breakfast. Afterwards, canoeing will resume until midday prior to a well-earned lunch and siesta, time to catch up on reading until mid-afternoon (depending on the weather). Canoeing continues until early evening where camp will be set up on Lone Acacia Island for the night.

Day Five
The programme is as per the previous days with the night stop being made at Trichelia Island.

Day Six
Up at sunrise for tea, coffee, biscuits and then breakfast before paddling starts at around 8am. You will arrive at Mana Pools at 10am and here the canoes will be loaded onto the vehicles for the return trip to Kariba. Arrival time in Kariba is approximately 3pm.
