The Tamarind Safari is our most popular expeditionary safari beginning in Chirundu and ending in Mana Pools National Park, which is a World Heritage Site. The game seen on this section of the Zambezi is superb as the flood plains offer wildlife an extraordinary place to thrive in the parks sanctuary. The distance covered by this safari is 75 km allowing time take in the peace and tranquillity of the truly untouched African wilderness.

Itinerary

Day One

Natureways collects you at 7:30am for check-in, luggage drop, and a short briefing. After shopping for extra drinks, transfer by open 4x4 to Chirundu, arriving around 11:30am. Canoes are unloaded and a safety talk and paddling demo follow. A packed lunch is enjoyed on the river. Around 5pm, camp is set up on Kakomarara Island, where you can relax, enjoy a camping safety talk, and settle in for dinner.

Day Two

Wake at sunrise for tea, coffee, and biscuits before paddling to the breakfast stop. Canoeing continues until midday, followed by lunch and a siesta—perfect for relaxing or reading. In the afternoon, paddle on until around 5pm, when camp is set up on Lone Acacia Island for the night.

Day Three

The programme is as per day two. With the night’s camp stop on Trichelia Island.

Day Four

This morning you will have a more leisurely start with the usual tea, coffee, and biscuits. After breakfast, camp is broken. Setting off at approximately 8am, the group will arrive at Mana Pools at 10am where the canoes and equipment will be loaded onto the vehicle for the return trip to Kariba. Arrival time in Kariba is approximately 3pm. As you depart with your memories, we know that this experience will have enriched your life and touched your soul!
