The Zambezi Classic Long it the longest safari Natureways has to offer lasting 10 days and 9 nights it stretches over 2 National Parks, 4 designated sections of the Zambezi and covers 230 km, each day an average of 23 km will be paddled. The safari starts 8 km downstream from the Kariba Dam Wall, guest will paddle 18 km out of the Kariba Gorge onto the River’s floodplains which offer unforgettable game sightings. The safari will take guests along the Mana Pools National Park shoreline which is a World Heritage Site which holds an abundance of game and about 380 bird species. Once past Mana Pools gests will canoe into the Mupata Gorge with its spectacular geographical features of red cliffs. The Zambezi Classic Long Safari allows guests to feel at one with nature and to capture the essence of Africa.

Itinerary
Day One
Natureways collects you at 7:30am for check-in, a briefing, and a stop to buy drinks. At the gorge, gear is portered down, and you walk 1.5km to the river. After a safety talk and paddling demo, you launch and stop for a picnic lunch and siesta. Canoeing continues until 5pm, reaching Nyamoumba for camp setup, a bucket bath, and dinner following a brief camping safety talk.

Day Two
Wake at sunrise for tea, coffee, and biscuits before a morning paddle and relaxed breakfast stop. Continue canoeing through the scenic Zambezi Valley, breaking for lunch and a siesta in the heat of the day. By early evening, reach your second night’s campsite at Twin Logs Island to unwind and rest.

Day Three
The day starts like before, with tea, biscuits, and breakfast at sunrise before paddling begins. Around 10:30–11am, stop at Chirundu for fresh supplies. After a light packed lunch, canoeing continues through the afternoon until reaching Kakomarara Island for the third night’s camp.

Day Four
Up at sunrise for tea, coffee and biscuits and breakfast before you start canoeing. Canoeing continues until midday and a well-earned lunch and siesta, time to catch up on reference books until mid-afternoon (depending on the weather). The group will continue to paddle until approximately 5pm, spending the night camped on Lone Acacia Island.

Day Five
The programme is as per day four. The night’s campsite will be at Nyamatusi Island.

Day Six
Again, today’s programme is very similar to days four and five. Lunch will be at about midday after which there is a chance to relax, take in your surroundings or siesta. The group will paddle until early evening where camp will be made on Chikwenya Island.

Day Seven
Up at dawn for tea, coffee and biscuits before a short early morning paddle. Breakfast will be served either on the banks of the river or on an island. Afterwards you will resume canoeing until lunchtime after which a brief siesta can be taken on the banks of the river. Once the heat subsides, canoeing will continue to False Gorge.

Day Eight
The programme is as per day seven. The day will be spent exploring the shoreline of Chewore (home of the Great Elephant). Camp will be made at Mupata Gorge.

Day Nine
The schedule for this day will be as per day six and seven with the day spent mainly in the austere Mupata Gorge, viewing its many endemic species of wildlife, and taking in its spectacular geographical features. This night’s campsite will be established at DDF.

Day Ten
After an early wake-up and breakfast, you will paddle down to the take-out point at Kanyemba. Equipment will then be loaded onto the vehicle and the group transferred back to Kariba. Arrival time in Kariba is approximately 4pm.
