Itinerary
Day 1
DAY 1 Fly overnight from London via Johannesburg to Livingstone
Day 2
Zambezi
DAYS 2 and 3 Transfer by road and boat to The Islands of Siankaba, a delightful lodge set on two islands in the Zambezi linked by a timber suspension bridge. The accommodation is in spacious and private tented rooms, each with a verandah overlooking the river. A visit to the VICTORIA FALLS is included and you can book an aerial view by helicopter, light aircraft or microlight. White water rafting and bungee jumping are amongst the host of adrenaline-pumping activities. Or you may just prefer to relax at the lodge with a gentle sundown cruise, mokoro trip, a spot of fishing or a stroll along the nature trails.
Day 4
DAYS 4 to 6 The road transfer upstream to the motor boat crossing and then on to Kasane airport will take about two hours. The pilot will be waiting to fly you to the KHWAI CONCESSION in the north east of Botswana where Banoka Bush Camp is situated in the tree line along the banks of a lagoon. The accommodation is in traditional safari tents set on raised platforms and the camp is powered 100% by solar. The abundant game is viewed on day and night drives, from a mokoro or on foot.
Day 7
DAYS 7 to 9 A scenic flight will take you to Mapula Lodge in the north western seasonal flood plain of the OKAVANGO DELTA. In contrast to Khwai, this is a more open area and the accommodation is in thatched chalets linked by sandy walkways. This is a prime game viewing wilderness area with activities that include walking with experienced guides, night drives in search of nocturnal species and tranquil mokoro trails which are possible even in the dry season since there is permanent water nearby.
Day 10
DAYS 10 and 11 After flying to South Africa via Maun, a complete change of scene awaits in CAPE TOWN where you will not be disappointed by the sophistication and bustling city life nor by An African Villa, your home for the next two nights. The building dates back to the late 1800's and has been refurbished in a modern, contemporary style which has been dubbed "African Zen!" The charming, friendly welcome makes visitors feel that they are house guests of old friends and An African Villa is within walking distance of the city centre and some of the best restaurants in Cape Town. A hire car will be delivered to you, enabling easy exploration of the city and the Cape Peninsular before driving up to the famous wine region.
Day 12
DAYS 12 to 14 Surrounded by a vineyard and beautifully restored from an old perfumery, Franschhoek Country House is set in picturesque gardens with views of the surrounding mountain. The restaurant, Monneaux, serves excellent meals either on the Fountain Terrace or in the dining room on cooler days. Known as the Gastronomic Capital of South Africa, FRANSCHHOEK is close to a number of famous vineyards and the main street is lined with restaurants, art galleries and tempting shops. Before you return home, be sure to book a table in The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francais for an extra treat!
Day 15
DAY 15 Drive to Cape Town and fly overnight to London
