Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha | Kilimanjaro

Day 1: Airport Transfer from KIA to Blue Ocean Guest House: Airport Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) to Blue Ocean Guest House, Arusha.

Day 2

Arusha | Kilimanjaro

Day 2: A Day Tour to Cultural Heritage Centre and Arusha National Park: You will be taken to the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre. It is located in Arusha, Tanzania. The centre boasts of various carvings, gemstones, artifacts, clothing and books. You are picked up from Arusha town and driven to Arusha National Park. The park has terrain ranging from open savannah through acacia scrublands to Afro-montane cloud and rain forest and Afro-alpine vegetation similar to Mount Kilimanjaro. When you get to this Park, there are several alkaline lakes and the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater. Getting there, you are sure to see a few animals which may include; elephants, buffalos, primates, giraffes and leopards, just to mention but a few. Hiking is allowed if accompanied by an armed guard and the climb up Mount Meru is superb, often giving the best views available of Mount Kilimanjaro. At 4,556m, Mount Meru is the fifth highest mountain in Africa and is located in the Arusha National Park. Lunch is served at Momela Wildlife Lodge. The tour ends in Arusha town at around 1700hrs.

Day 3

Day 3: Mountain Bike Rides: Road bike rides are also possible with a reasonable number of routes – ranging from 65 km to 150Km plus. There are three basic options – eastwards to Moshi, westwards to Makuyuni and beyond, and northwards to Longido and Namanga.

Day 4

Arusha

Day 4: A Day Tour to Mt. Meru Waterfall and Hot Springs Tour:  This is a beautiful little waterfall, with its principal advantage being its proximity to Arusha. The journey from Arusha is just 7km and takes only 15 minutes. Having parked, there is a short walk that involves some steep ground and some clambering, but is quite manageable, even for young children. You later head to the Hot Springs, this is probably the best place to swim. Emanating from within the earth, the geo-thermally warmed water is constantly renewed and is therefore very fresh, clear and clean. It’s a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours with family, or to relax before or after a climb. The distance from Arusha to the hot springs is 69km and the journey normally takes around 1 hour 20, so one should allow at least 5 hours for this excursion.

Day 5

Day 5: Cave Falls and Maasai Crater Excursion: For those who want to spend more time walking as; following a 30 minute / 13km vehicle transfer to the area, access to the waterfall requires a 2km walk along a river bed. The walk to the falls takes a little under an hour and some 40 minutes to get back to the vehicle, if completing a circuit. Bear in mind that to get back to the car requires a height gain of 60 metres, so while not strenuous, one should be prepared for this. The attraction of Maasai Crater walk is threefold: the exercise, the awesome views, and the opportunity to meet authentic Maasai villagers. If walking around the crater rim, we cover around 4.2km, however, climbers will often want to descend to the crater floor, which may add another 3km or thereabouts. Bear in mind that if descending to the crater floor, the return to the rim requires an ascent of 257 metres, which will normally take somewhere between 30-50 minutes and is quite strenuous, dusty and exposed to direct sunlight with virtually no shade.

Day 6

Kilimanjaro

Day 6: Mount Kilimanjaro and Moshi Day Tour: Mount Kilimanjaro is the most common and known attraction. Almost every kind of ecological system is found on the mountain: cultivated land, rain forest, heath, moorland, alpine desert and an arctic summit. The major activity on this awful mountain is trekking and majority of people have been engaged to it. Tours in Moshi will be fun as you visit the countryside of Moshi which comprises the whole range of the famous Kilimanjaro Mountains, you will go to the famous Marangu Waterfalls and you can actually stand under the cascading water and if you happen to be free, you can as well spend some time to visit Lake Nyumba. In fact if you have children and are in holidays, you can take them along with you so that they enjoy the camel ride in the small town. If you are in the favor of walking then you can take a walk through the paddy and rice fields with the help of the professional guide.

Day 7

Arusha | Tarangire

Day 7: Excursions to Tarangire National Park: This day excursion takes you to Tarangire National Park with departure from Arusha town At 2,600km², Tarangire is enriched with open plains, dotted with thousands of baobabs which make your stay memorable. There is something that attracts most of the travelers from wherever they are and these are the climbing lions. And therefore if you are this kind of person who is so much in love with wilderness, an itinerary to Tarangire National Park should be a must. There must be around 30,000 zebra, 25,000 wildebeest, 5,000 buffalo, 3,000 elephant, 2,500 Masai giraffe and over 1,000 fringe-eared Oryx (gemsbok) in this area. The predators in this area include lions, cheetah and leopard. Birders will want to look out for the endemic ashy starling, rufous-tailed weaver and black-collared lovebird.

Day 8

Day 8: Full Day Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area:  The tour will provide you with one of the most fascinating journeys across the wilderness and natural beauty of the country of Tanzania. Many tourists and travelers come to this place to see and explore the scenic areas. Ngorongoro Tours include visiting the major sightseeing attractions of the place along with excursions.

Day 9

Ngorongoro Crater

Day 9: Olduvai Gorge and Ngorongoro Crater Excursion: The Ngorongoro Crater is indeed a natural wonder, an extinct Volcano that collapsed around 25 million years ago thus forming a vast super bowl where almost every game can be spotted. You will have clear views from the top of the crater; this is the most exciting angle to feel what nature is. You will see animals like buffalos, Zebras, wildebeest, gazelle that depend on the open grasslands in the crater. As these animals graze, the predators are also in the corner waiting to get their share. Carnivores include; the black-manned lion, the leopard and hyena. You will see a soda lake that attracts countless water birds like flamingoes which is also a favorite place for carnivores to kill. Perhaps this is the reason why Ngorongoro is called the ‘’Garden of Eden’’. Because there is a lot to do here, you are always advised to carry packed lunch so that you can eat enroute.

Day 10

Serengeti

Day 10: Serengeti Hot Air Balloon Safaris: An exclusive hot air balloon includes a pre-dawn collection for these luxury safaris from your luxury African game lodge to the hot air balloon launch site near Maasai Kopjes. Here you will meet your hot air balloon pilot, receive a briefing and watch the inflation of the hot air balloon. This is the only time you will be allowed to move about the Serengeti during the hours of darkness and you may just glimpse some nocturnal animals, unusual sights and the possibility to take some very unique animals pictures and photos. At Serengeti National Park, you will be in a position to view all the big five and other animals like the zebras, gazelle, antelopes, wildebeest and some others. You will later get to know that some animals like wildebeest and zebras do migrate in June and July. This Serengeti National park also has a few carnivores like the lions, leopards, hyenas and cheaters.
