Umbwe Route Mount Kilimanjaro trekking tour.

The umbwe route is one of the direct routes to the southern glaciers Furthermore the western breach. It is maybe the most scenic, non-technical route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is relatively taxing, initially due to the reasonably fast ascent to higher altitude, but the rewards are plentiful. Very steep route best suited to more experienced trekkers. Itinerary

Day 1 Arusha- First Cave.

Pick up from your hotel at 8.00 am and drive to Machame gate, then drive to Umbwe village where the climbing starts at the gate forest cave / first cave (2900m) where you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 2 First Cave – Barranco Camp.

A 4 hrs. the hike will take you to Barranco Camp all meals and overnight at Barranco Camp at 3950m, this is where you can acclimatize your body.

Day 3 Barranco Camp–Karanga Valley.

This is another day for acclimatization after breakfast continues with the hiking through a steep rocky Barranco walls then ups and down until you come to Karanga valley about 3 hours. All meals and overnight at Karanga valley.

Day 4 Karanga Valley – Barrafu.

Breakfast then continue with the walk up and down along the stone and sand till you reach Barafu camp in about 3 hours, as soon as you arrive at the campsite make sure you try to rest a lot and prepare all the staff you brought for the mountain, because you will start the last point around 1:00 am. all meals and overnight at Barafu camp.

Day 5 Barrafu – Uhuru Peak – Mweka

Arusha

Very early breakfast, then start for the summit at 1:00 am first to Stella point and then to Uhuru peak (5895m). It is recommended to take few minutes for Photo, and then descend to Mweka camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Mweka Camp - Gate – Moshi

Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate – Moshi or Arusha Breakfast then descend downwards to Mweka gate for 3-4hrs, collect your diploma if you make to the summit then transfer back to Arusha in 2hrs or Moshi in 30minutes.
