Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1 On the first day of this safari, a driver will be waiting for you at the Kigali International Airport (KGL) to transfer you to the border of Grande Barrière Rwanda-DRC after introducing themselves to you. The approximate duration of this transfer is three hours and a half. You will be welcomed by the staff at the border and assisted for your clearing with formalities. After crossing the border, you will be transferred to your hotel to check in. Once there, there will be a short briefing to inform you of the details of this safari.
Day 2
Virunga
Day 2 After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will depart to the Virunga National Park to track the mountain gorillas. The approximate duration of this trip will be two hours and a half. All treks are led by park rangers and usually depart from the Bukima patrol post. Treks usually require one to two hours of hiking in each direction depending on where the mountain gorillas spent the previous night and the difficulty of the terrain. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend an hour with them to enjoy this experience to its fullest. After the gorilla trekking, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Day 3
Day 3 On the third day, you will have breakfast at your hotel. Then you will be transferred to the city of Goma for a city tour at 10:00 a.m. During this trip, you will visit many attractive sites such as local markets, museums, the lava that burnt the town in 2002, city monuments, Lake Kivu, Goma harbor, hotels and restaurants, and all the places that make of Goma such a fascinating city to explore. This journey will also be an occasion to interact with locals and learn about their history and their life. At the end of the tour, you will have surely enjoyed the experience and be amazed by the capacity of resilience of the locals. During the tour, there will be a stop for lunch. After the tour is over, you will go back to your hotel to bring your things. Then you will be transferred back to the border and return to the Kigali International Airport (KGL) in Rwanda for departure.
