Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi

Day 1: Nairobi-Nairobi Pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel in Nairobi for dinner and overnight or go for the safari straight a way depending on what time is the flight.

Day 2

Nairobi

Day 2: Nairobi-Maasai Mara After breakfast, leave Nairobi for Maasai Mara Game Reserve, picnic lunch en-route. On arrival proceed to the campsite/lodge. After a short rest proceeds for a game drive in search of black manned lions, elephants, leopards, cheetah, buffalos and other plain’s game. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Day 3: Maasai Mara After breakfast, proceed for an early morning game drive. Return to camp/lodge for lunch, a further game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 4

Day 4: Maasai Mara Full day game viewing in the Mara with an option nature walks or visits to a nearby Maasai village in between the meals breaks. Dinner and overnight at a lodge. (Maasai village visit available at extra cost).

Day 5

Day 5: Maasai Mara – Naivasha After breakfast, mid morning game drive then leave for Lake Naivasha which is the highest Lake in The Rift Valley arriving late afternoon. Lake Naivasha is famous in the 1930’s as a staging post for Imperial Airways Flying Boat Services from Durban to London and you can see the Lake sparkling in the sun thousands of feet below. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge

Day 6

Day 6: Lake Naivasha After breakfast, we shall proceed to Crescent Island which one of the few places in all Africa where you can wander on foot among herds of zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, and giraffe, because of the absence of predators. Proceed to the lodge for lunch with a visit to the Hell’s Gate National Park past Fishers Tower in the afternoon. You will visit the Geothermal Power Plant at Ol Karia and the Hot Springs. Hell’s gate is the only park that officially allows transport by walking and bicycling. The small perimeters of the park give you a chance to see a variety of wildlife.

Day 7

Day 7: ‘The Crater Lake’ Naivasha This is a luxurious tented camp on the lakeshore less than 2 hours drive from Nairobi. The final resting place of Lady Diane Delamere widely renowned as Kenya’s most romantic tented camp with thrilling night game drives with expert trackers.

Day 8

Lake Nakuru

Day 8: Lake Naivasha - Nakuru Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is a salty lake in the rift valley. It is home to millions of flamingos besides being the only single largest. Europhobia candelabra forest Africa south of Sahara. See the white rhino live in the wild. It is also home to the rare Rothschild giraffe. It’s known as: ORNITHOLOGICAL PARADISE. Have lunch and go for game drive in the afternoon, dinner and overnight stay at lodge

Day 9

Day 9: Nakuru After breakfast, go for full day game drive. Dinner and overnight at lodge.

Day 10

Lake Nakuru

Day 10: Lake Nakuru - Bogoria After breakfast drive to Bogoria where the hot water springs abound and plenty of medicinal springs. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Bogoria Lodge

Day 11

Day 11: Lake Bogoria – Lake Baringo After breakfast, drive to Lake Baringo, a boat trip on the island to view birds and the hippos in the waters as well as very ancient caves, . (The boat ride is only one (1) hours. If you require more hours, one pays directly). Dinner and overnight at Lake Baringo lodge.

Day 12

Day 12: Lake Baringo After breakfast, proceed on a visit to a local njemps village or a local snake farm can be arranged at an extra cost. Dinner and overnight at a lodge on the shores of Lake Baringo.

Day 13

Day 13: Lake Baringo – Mt. Elgon Early breakfast followed by visit to Lake Bogoria, which is adorned with natures rare gifts, thermal springs and geysers, thousands of flamingos, different species of water fowls but fishless. Visitors boil eggs at natures cost while they sit under the hardy acacia trees listening to the singing weaverbirds, buzzing bees and sometimes the cough of an agitated baboon. With lunch en-route proceed to Mt. Elgon National Park followed by afternoon drive to the elephant caves where you will be able to walk and explore with a guide on hand to explain the caves history. Dinner and overnight in Mt. Elgon bandas.

Day 14

Kilimanjaro

Day 14: Mt. Elgon After breakfast embark on a nature walk. With a chance of seeing animal and plant species and also finding an ideal site for a picnic lunch. Mt. Elgon is the 4th highest in East Africa after Mt. Kilimanjaro, Kenya and the Ruwenzoris. The park shares its borders with Uganda. The vegetating ranges from wet forests to alpine moorland and supports Colobus monkeys, elephants buffalo and several species of antelope, which are prey for the secretive leopard. Dinner and overnight at Mt. Elgon Bandas.

Day 15

Day 15: Mt. Elgon – Kakamega forest Early breakfast and depart for Kakamega where your drivers takes you over the Tugen hills, through the beautiful Kerio valley and Sirikwa plateau in to the Kakamega forest reserve which is a superb slab of virgin tropical rainforest in the heart of an intensively cultivated agricultural area. This forest is a home to a huge variety of birds and animals and is well worth the minimal effort required to get to it. Some parts of the forest are very dense and for a greater appreciation of the flora and fauna a guide with an extensive knowledge of the trees and birds accompany you to guide you around. Binoculars and wet-weather gear are essential as it usually rains heavily every afternoon for a couple of hours. Dinner and overnight in the campsite or in Kakamega Golf Club.

Day 16

Nairobi

Day 16: Kakamega Forest - Aberdares Depart from Nairobi for The Ark or similar lodge. The Ark is situated in the Aberdare National Park, deep in the mountain. This unique lodge resembles a ship; overlooking a floodlit waterhole and saltlick which is visited by a variety of animals. Often seen here are the elephant, rhino and bushbuck. Occasionally a leopard or giant forest hog may be seen. Before driving to The Ark, lunch is taken at the Aberdare Country Club. Dinner and breakfast at the Ark.

Day 17

Samburu

Day 17: Aberdares – Samburu Leave The Ark after breakfast, to drive into Samburu passing through Isiolo, the gateway to “George Adamson’s” land of lions, reaching Larsen’s Tented Camp or similar by lunch time. Samburu is an open Savannah plan and in the vicinity of the Uaso Nyiro River. One can find the dik dik, rhino, buffalo, elephants, cheetah, leopard and lion. Unique to this area are the reticulated giraffe, Gravy’s zebra, the long-necked gerenuk and the Beisa Oryzx, of course not forgetting the hippos and crocodiles in the river and a hundred different species of birds including the Somali ostrich. Dinner and overnight at a lodge

Day 18

Samburu

Day 18: Samburu After breakfast, leave for Samburu via the Thompson falls. Lunch en-route arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.

Day 19

Samburu

Day 19: Samburu After breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive. Return to a lodge for lunch. 04.00 p.m. another game drive. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.

Day 20

Mount Kenya | Samburu

Day 20: Samburu-Mt. Kenya After breakfast, leave Samburu for Mount Kenya (Nanyuki) arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, visit the Mau Mau caves (where Kenyan Freedom Fighters could hide from the British Troops during the struggle for Independence). Dinner and overnight at a lodge.

Day 21

Amboseli | Nairobi

Day 21: Mt. Kenya-Amboseli via Nairobi After breakfast, drive south via the biggest open-air market in East and Central Africa (Karatina). Proceed to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch in one of the restaurants. Continue to Amboseli via Kenya/Tanzania border (Namanga) arriving in Amboseli late afternoon. An evening game viewing drive. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.

Day 22

Amboseli

Day 22: Amboseli Early morning game drives before breakfast. After breakfast have a whole day game viewing. Optional: Maasai Village visit Nature walk swimming in one of the lodges (all at extra cost. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 23

Amboseli | Tsavo

Day 23: Amboseli – Tsavo West After breakfast, drive via Chyulu hills to Tsavo West National Park arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game viewing drive and a visit to Mzima Springs (The source of drinking water for Mombasa). Return for dinner and overnight at a lodge.

Day 24

Tsavo

Day 24: Tsavo West – Tsavo East After breakfast, drive to Tsavo East which is renowned for its large numbers of Elephants and the famous Man Eating Lions (during the building of the Kenya/Uganda Railway in 1890). Lunch on arrival. Game drive. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.

Day 25

Tsavo

Day 25: Tsavo East – Mombasa After breakfast and your final game drive, proceed to Mombasa

Day 26

Nairobi

Day 26 – 30 – Mombasa Beach Hotels e.g. Leopard/Reef/Sarova Whitesands on HB basis After breakfast, return to Nairobi for your flight back home with a dinner at the Carnivore. Nairobi has many restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisine. We recommend a dinner at the Carnivore, which is famous for its succulent steaks and barbecue, dishes including game meat and is therefore dubbed ‘the meat eaters’ paradise. The restaurant also offers a vegetarian menu; the meal is an excellent complement to a holiday especially as a welcome or farewell dinner. End of Safari
