Day 1
A Kibo Slopes Safaris representative will be at hand to meet us upon arrival at Entebbe Airport. After brief introductions we drive via Kampala city to Jinja, the Source of the Nile, situated directly at Lake Victoria. The rest of the day will be at leisure with optional excursions depending on our arrival schedule. Dinner and overnight will be at the 2 Friends Guesthouse.

Day 2
After breakfast we check out and start the day’s adventure with a visit to the Bujagali Falls. Here we shall enjoy the beautiful scenery with optional white water rafting on the thundering rapids of the river Nile. We then drive to the Malaba border where we cross over into Kenya and drive on to Mount Elgon National park. Dinner and overnight will be at Mt Elgon Bandas. .

Day 3
This day is set for exploration the National Park by car and on foot. There is buffalo, elephant, leopard and several antelope species available here. The greatest attraction however are ancient caves, the largest being the Kitum. Here elephants and buffaloes visit regularly for a mineral lick. A lunch will be served at one of the scenic picnic sites before returning to the Bandas in the late afternoon. In the evening we pack our mountain gear for tomorrows cross-over hike. .

Day 4
After breakfast we shall be transferred to the forest edge from where we start our hike. A 4 hours’ hike accompanied by rangers takes us to the road head at 3400m, where our crew will have pitched tents. There will be a lunch stop on the way. Dinner and overnight will be in a fly camp. .

Day 5
Today’s hike starts with a 4 hours walk, accompanied by Kenya Wildlife Service escorts, leading to Koitoboss (4155m), the highest peak on the Kenyan side before crossing the caldera over to Uganda. At the border we will be received by armed Ugandan Wildlife Authority Rangers who will accompany us on the Ugandan trail. Diner and overnight will be in a fly camp at the Mude Caves (3500m). .

Day 6
This is the day of our Elgon Summit challenge hiking to Wagagai (4321m), the peak of Mt. Elgon. The trek leads along the rim of one of the world’s largest calderas as we approach the summit. Here are several of small lakes left behind by glaciers of the last ice age. We will return to Mude Caves Camp for dinner and overnight rest. .

Day 7
Time to make the final descend. After breakfast we hike through the moorland which gives way to forest at 3000m. On the way we are likely to encounter troops of black and white colobus as well as the blue monkeys and a variety of bird species. We shall have a lunch stop on the way. We soon enter the small scale farmlands zone and descend further on to Bumasola (1770m) in the mid-afternoon. After bidding the crew goodbye we join our driver for transfer to Mbale town. Dinner and overnight will be at the Elgon Lodge. .

Day 8
After breakfast we check out of the lodge and transfer via Jinja to Kampala. Depending on our onward departure schedule we may have an optional lunch and sightseeing tour of Kampala city before being dropped off at the airport in Entebbe for departure.
