Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi Set off early morning on the scenic drive to Kabale town, located in South West Uganda. If you are coming from Kampala the journey will take approximetly 7 hours, and will include stop overs at the equator and/or Igongo Cultural center for lunch en route, If you are coming from Kigali, the journey will only take 2 hour approximetly and you may choose to set off in the afternoon. From Kigali, you will stop at the boarder where you will recive a visa on arrival for 50 Usd. On arrival, transfer to your over night hotel; Bunyonyi Safaris Resort, by the shores of Lake Bunyonyi, for dinner.
Day 2
Bwindi Impenetrable
Day 2: Gorilla Trek in Ruhija, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest After an early breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Forest and assemble at the nearest Ranger Post by 8am for your briefing, with your packed lunch. Spend the day tracking the Gorillas in the ancient Forest. You will be able to spend an hour with them once you find them, and later have your picnic lunch in the Forest. Return to Bunyonyi safaris resort and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 3
Day 3: Canoe Trek on Lake Bunyonyi After your hectic day treking in the forest, spend your morning at lesuire. After lunch, set off at 2pm for a 5 hour cannoe trek of lake bunyonyi, which will involve crossing the lake in a traditional dugout cannoe, spectacular views and island stories, visiting some of the community members, such as the local nursery school, a traditional healer and a session with a craft maker. Return to the hotel in the evening, in time for a campfire BBQ dinner.
Day 4
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala or Kigali After an early breakfast, check out and depart for Kampala or Kigali, and get dropped off at aggreed place. Additional Information - What to bring; Shoes that have a good grip, suitable for climbing steep moist muddy slopes. Long sleeved clothes to protect you from the pricking brushes during your walk through the Forests. Rain gear, since the weather is unpredictable. Warm clothes. The average temperature in South West Uganda is 18 oC, and it can get quite cold at night. A pair of binoculars. If taking photos, keep in mind that your subjects are actually black animals living within dim light, so camera flashes is strictly not permitted. Better to have a fast film (of 400 – 800 ASA) or even utilize the settings on your camera. People with diseases such as Colds/flu or diarrhea/stomach upsets are not allowed to track Gorillas, to prevent transmission of diseases. Children bellow age 16 are not allowed to go Gorilla Trekking.
