Day 1
Day 1: Depart Home The adventure begins today!
Day 2
Day 2: Arrive Nairobi Waiting Micato airport staff whisks you away to the historic Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel.
Day 3
Day 3: Nairobi A safari briefing answers questions and creates excitement, followed by a lecture from Maasai Elder Simon Lenini Ole Kassi. Next, delightful city sightseeing, including a visit to the captivating National Museum, the former home of Karen Blixen who penned Out of Africa, and a stop at Giraffe Centre, an elevated treetop aerie where we hand-feed Rothschild giraffes. We'll also enjoy the delightful hospitality of Felix and Jane Pinto at their home for lunch or dinner. Fine food, good conversation and warm camaraderie are sure to be the highlight of the day. Upon returning to our hotel, we already feel like old African hands.

Amboseli | Kilimanjaro
Day 5: Amboseli In the morning we board our flight to the bush country of Amboseli National Park, where Mount Kilimanjaro dominates every vista. Amboseli is famous for its tranquil beauty and approachable wildlife Early morning and late afternoon game drives happen daily. We’ll overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge.

Arusha | Tarangire
Day 6: Tarangire Today we drive to Arusha, Tanzania for lunch before winging to Tarangire National Park, over brimming with elephants and hundreds of species of birds. Our deluxe accommodations at Tarangire Sopa Lodge are hidden in a hillside valley, where views of the baobab-studded landscape amaze at every turn.

Ngorongoro Crater | Tarangire
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater After a morning game drive and breakfast we bid farewell to Tarangire, and are rewarded by a lovely drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Our lodge sits dramatically on the rim, revealing a panorama of the world’s largest, unflooded and unbroken caldera. On our second day, we descend into the crater and spend the morning tracking animals. This natural amphitheatre is said to have the largest concentration of animals in all of Africa, including a high density of lions and thousands of flamingos. The ever-changing mood of this great amphitheatre will hold our attention every second. Our accommodations are at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.

Serengeti
Day 10: Serengeti National Park A visit is made to renowned Olduvai Gorge where the Leakey family uncovered the fossil Homo habilis (the handy man), the first tool user, who lived over 1.75 million years ago. Then we reach the Serengeti, deep in the heart of the largest and most diverse migration corridor in the world. Wild beasts, creatures of every size and description, flood the savannah in droves...herds of mammoth elephant, the stately giraffe and the lumbering rhino all mix together alongside the more diminutive inhabitants...the delicate antelope, bulky wildebeest and the comical warthog. And we hope to see it all! Serengeti Sopa Lodge is our lodge of choice here.

Arusha
Day 12: Maasai Mara We fly to the Mara via Arusha and Nairobi, and here we find the Old Africa of our imaginations, with rolling grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains teeming with wildlife. Hundreds of thousands of animals walk this ancient migratory route. No matter how much you have dreamed about Africa, this is more than you expected- and the ideal backdrop for a hot air balloon expedition. If we haven't visited a Maasai village yet, we will do so here: it's a poignant look into another world. Another great highlight will be stunning bush sundowners-a glorious al fresco cocktail party overlooking the savannah at sunset. Our tented camp in the Mara is either Mara Safari Club or Kichwa Tembo.

Mount Kenya | Nairobi
Day 14: Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club Today we fly to Nairobi and continue by air across Kenya's fertile Central Highlands- reminiscent of the English countryside-to the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club. Sprawled on the slopes of majestic Mount Kenya, this historic club offers luxury and relaxation, including such activities as golf, trout fishing, horseback riding and tennis, as well as a charming animal orphanage. Our upgraded accommodations are in the superb Club Level of deluxe rooms. A two-night stay provides ample time to explore surrounding game reserves including Ol Pejeta, home to an extensive rhino population and protection programme, as well as the Jane Goodall sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees.
Day 15
Day 15: Depart Nairobi Flying to Nairobi, a hotel room is ours for the day. We can choose to visit an AmericaShare project, explore the shops or simply relax before our departure tonight. As we depart Africa we know that the old adage is true: you may leave Africa, but Africa will never leave you.
Day 16
Day 16: Arrive Home We connect in Europe for our return flights home.
