Masai Mara

Day 1, Nairobi / Masai Mara National Reserve (Approx.5.5 hrs drive) Your Essenia Safari manager meets you upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport aboard an early morning flight / or at your city hotel at 0715 hrs. Introduction to your safari driver and pre safari briefing. Board your 4x4WD sfarai equipped land cruiser and drive to the Masai via the base of the Great Rift, arriving at your tented camp for lunch. This evening, you will enjoy your first game drive. Your magical Mara experience begins here with a possibility of spotting some if not all of THE BIG 5 among several other wildlife and bird species. Overnight stay at Base Camp Masai Mara (Luxury Tent) / similar. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 3 – Masai Mara National Reserve You have two full days in Masai Mara where you will enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives at dawn and dusk respectively when the wildlife is more active. You may also opt for a near full day game drive (recommended), departing the lodge with packed lunch with the day spent in the vast reserve in search of wildlife sightings and on the migration trail.  This culminates with picnic lunch served on the banks of the Mara River as you watch Hippos, before driving back to your camp by 1530 hrs. This reserve's open savannahs abound with game density, prolific birdlife as well as the annual instinct led wildebeest migration involving over 1.5 million Wildebeests, Zebras and Gazelles which takes place every year between July and October. This Mara is home to the BIG 5, which are Lions, Leopards, Buffalos, Rhinos and Elephants amongst several other animal species. Birdlife is also prolific in the reserve with over 450 bird species having being recorded as residents of this reserve. Your driver guide may also arrange for a visit to a traditional Masai Village where you interact with them and learn about their culture. Overnight stay at Base Camp Masai Mara / similar.
