Epic big-game viewing, the Great Migration, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater! This safari takes some beating; it’s one of our most popular trips. Plus it includes a few nights on Zanzibar for a bit of beach R+R. We use three properties for this trip – The Plantation Lodge, Serengeti Safari Camp North, and Matlai Boutique Hotel. The Plantation Lodge is situated just outside the town of Karatu and provides a fabulous base for checking out not only Lake Manyara National Park but the Ngorongoro Crater too! Serengeti Safari Camp North offers authentic accommodation and some amazing safari experiences. It was the first mobile camp in the national park! Finally, Zanzibar’s Matlai Boutique Hotel has everything you could desire for a relaxing beach break at the end of your trip.

Day 1
Ngorongoro Crater
Touching down at Lake Manyara Airport, where you’ll be met by a private guide and private vehicle, who will transfer you to The Plantation Lodge, enjoying a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park (one of Africa’s most scenic safari areas) on the way. The lodge is a charming little property, situated in a coffee plantation within the foothills of the Ngorongoro Crater itself.

During your second day here, you’ll head down into the crater for a vehicle safari. You’ll likely to see all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – in addition to numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and lots of birds! Plantation also offers guided walks among the coffee plantations and visits to a nearby farm.

Day 3: Serengeti

You'll return to Lake Manyara Airport via private road transfer and fly to Kogatende Airstrip in the North Serengeti. Once you’ve landed, you’ll have a shared road transfer to Serengeti Safari Camp North. This property has the distinction of being the oldest mobile camp in the area! Unlike other mobile camps, this one travels hundreds of miles per year to ensure that guests enjoy the sights of the Great Migration.

Today, you'll have a guaranteed front-row seat for watching one of the greatest shows on Earth, the Great Migration in the Serengeti!

Once you've had your fill of watching the wildebeest herds, you can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives identifying other big game, members of the Big Five and other bird and mammals species that call the Serengeti savannah home.

Day 7: Zanzibar
The final few days of your trip are spent on Zanzibar! You’ll have a shared road transfer from Serengeti Safari Camp to Kogatende Airstrip, before flying out to Zanzibar’s international airport and travelling to Matlai Boutique Hotel. With a beautiful location on the scenic south-east coast, this property has always been a favourite at YZ!

Owned and run by a friendly family, its Asili House, which will be your base during your time here, has just four guest rooms and a very exclusive feel. Days are spent simply relaxing on the sugar-soft white sands of the nearby beach, or getting stuck in to some snorkelling, beach volleyball, or even boules!

Excursions around the island can be arranged too – to capital Stone Town, Jozani Forest, and the thrilling butterfly centre. And every evening, you can sit down to enjoy a meal in one of many hidden dining areas around the hotel, a wonderfully romantic way to end your trip together.
