day 1: Machame gate - Machame camp

Rise: (3,000 m): 5. 6,000 ft. (1,830 m) to 10,200 ft. (3,100 m). Distance: 11 km. Hiking Time: 5-7 hours. Habitat: montane forest. Camp: Machame Camp. Our initial day The distance between Moshi and the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate is around 50 minutes by car. The route passes past the town of Machame, which is located on the mountain's lower slopes. We trek up a ridge on a winding trail through a rain forest now that we have left the park.

day 2: Machame camp to Shira camp
