The trail starts in dense rainforest and ascends through the vegetation zones to Mandara Hut, where you will spend the night.

Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut (3,720m) Today is a rest day to help your body adjust to the altitude. You can take a short hike to the nearby Zebra Rocks or relax at the hut and enjoy the panoramic views.

Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Kibo Hut (4,703m) Today, the trail ascends through the alpine desert to Kibo Hut, where you will spend the night. You will have an early dinner and go to bed early in preparation for the summit attempt.

Day 5: Kibo hut -Summit to Horombo

Summit Attempt – Kibo Hut (4,703m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m) You will start the summit attempt at midnight, climbing through the steep scree and snow to Gilman's Point (5,681m) on the crater rim. From there, you will continue along the rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After taking in the views and celebrating your achievement, you will descend back to Horombo Hut for the night.
