Day 1: Moshi town to Umbwe gate

Day 1: Drive from Moshi to the Umbwe Gate (approximately 1-2 hours). Begin the trek from the gate (1,800 meters/5,905 feet) to Umbwe Camp (2,900 meters/9,515 feet). The hike is steep and will take approximately 4-6 hours.

Day 2: Continue the ascent from Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp (3,976 meters/13,044 feet). This day includes some challenging sections, such as the Barranco Wall. The trek usually takes around 6-8 hours.

Day 5: Start the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning (usually around midnight) from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters/19,341 feet). This is the most challenging part of the climb but also the most rewarding. After reaching the summit, descend to Mweka Camp (3,110 meters/10,203 feet) for overnight.

Day 6: Descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters/5,380 feet). This descent takes around 4-6 hours. From the gate, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi to celebrate your successful climb.
